Vegas Three Card Rummy

Vegas Three Card Rummy Tips 2017

Vegas Three Card Rummy is quickly becoming a very popular game at online casinos. It is a little more complex than some poker games because the face value of the hands is not exactly how you score. Instead, you score parts of your hand individually and the low score wins.

Seem confusing? It really is simple once you learn the rules, and that is one of the main appeals of Vegas Three Card Rummy.

The best way to learn to play the game is to start playing for free. This way, there is no fear of losing any money at all, and once you are comfortable and you see how much fun it is, you can make your deposit and start putting cash on the line.

Bovada Casino and Rushmore Casino both have Vegas Three Card Rummy available for free play, and you don’t even need to download the software. Just use the instant casino and start playing.

To start the game you need to place an ante bet and you have the option to add a bonus bet. The ante bet will put your hand up against the dealer’s. You can raise your ante bet or fold after seeing your 3 cards. For the bonus bet, only your made hand matters. More on the payouts for each bet later.

Once you place your bets, the dealer deals three cards to the player face up and the dealer face down. Then you can either fold your hand or raise. If you fold, you of course lose all bets, both the ante and the bonus bet. If you raise, which is one bet equal to the ante, then the dealer turns over his cards and the best hand is determined.

Scoring is based on the lowest hand winning. Vegas Three Card Rummy uses a unique scoring system in which pairs, trips, and suited runs of 2 cards or more are worth 0. A total score of zero is the best possible score and the best possible hand is A, 2, 3 suited. Aces only play as 1, they don’t complete a run with a King.

For instance, to score a hand of 7 of hearts, 8 of hearts, 9 of clubs, the 7 and 8 are a suited run and count as 0. The 9, as well as all number cards, is worth face value, so the score for this hand is 9.

A hand of Jack of diamonds, Jack of spades, Queen of spades, is scored as 10, since you have either a pair of Jacks with a Queen left, or a suited run with a Jack left. If there is no pair and no suited run then the value of the cards is added together to figure a score.

The dealer must get 20 or less in order to qualify his hand. If he has more than 20, then the ante bet is paid 1 to 1 and the raise bet is a push.  If the dealer qualifies then the raise bet is paid according to the casino’s pay table. Most will pay 4 to 1 on a score of zero, 2 to 1 on a score of 1 through 5 and 1 to 1 on 6 through 19.

The bonus bets pay whether the dealer qualifies or not. If you are playing the bonus bet then your hand is determined and the payout is made once the dealer turns his cards over (although the dealer’s hand is irrelevant to the bonus bet).

The payout table may vary slightly from one casino to the next but they will all look very similar to this. A total score of 11 or 12 wins 4 to 1, a score of 7 to 10 wins 1 to 1, and a score of 1 through 6 wins 2 to 1. If you are able to score 0, you are paid 25 to 1, and if you get A, 2, 3 of one suit, you are paid 100 to 1.

The strategy for the raise bet is quite simple for Vegas Three Card Rummy. Simply play the same hands that the dealer plays. If your score is below 20, then raise. If your total is 20 or above , then it is best to fold. When playing this strategy, the house has an advantage of a little over 3%.

Although Vegas Three Card Rummy can seem a little intimidating to some people at first because of the scoring system, you can now see that it is quite simple actually. Once people try the game and get used to it, they often stick with it for a while.

It is a nice change of pace game, a real blast to play, and the strategy is simple to employ, so go ahead and give Vegas Three Card Rummy a try.
